Description

This Classic Marble Cake features a delightful swirl of vanilla and chocolate batters, baked to perfection for a moist and flavorful treat. Perfect for any occasion, this cake combines simple ingredients to create a visually stunning and delicious dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, place the flour, sugar, milk, eggs, softened butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix slowly at first just to moisten the ingredients.
  3. Mix Batter: Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 minutes until you obtain a smooth, well-combined batter.
  4. Divide Batter: Reserve ¾ cup of the batter and set it aside. Pour the remaining batter into the prepared cake pan.
  5. Prepare Chocolate Batter: Stir the unsweetened cocoa powder into the reserved ¾ cup of batter until the color is uniform and no lumps remain.
  6. Create Marble Effect: Drop large spoonfuls of the chocolate batter on top of the vanilla batter in the pan. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the two batters together, creating a marbled pattern.
  7. Bake: Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Remove the cake from the oven and cool it briefly on a wire rack. Then invert the cake carefully onto a serving plate or another cooling rack and allow it to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and a smoother batter.
  • Use a metal or wooden skewer for swirling the batters to create a neat marbled pattern.
  • Test doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center; if it comes out with wet batter, continue baking a few more minutes.
  • For best flavor, allow the cake to cool completely before slicing.
  • This cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
