Description

Delight in the rich fusion of creamy cheesecake and crispy churro flavors with these Churro Cheesecake Bars. Featuring a buttery crescent roll crust layered with a smooth cream cheese filling and finished with a cinnamon-sugar topping, these bars are baked to golden perfection, making them a perfect dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

For the Bars

  • Two 8-oz packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets
  • 16 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan to ensure the bars don’t stick.
  2. Prepare Bottom Crust: Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough, carefully pressing the seams together to form a solid layer. Press this dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  3. Make Cream Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with ¾ cup granulated sugar, the egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour this cheesecake mixture evenly over the bottom dough layer in the pan.
  4. Add Top Crust: Unroll the second tube of crescent roll dough, pressing seams together as before, and gently lay it over the cream cheese filling, covering it completely.
  5. Apply Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the melted and slightly cooled butter evenly over the top dough layer. Then, sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture generously over the buttered surface to create the churro-inspired topping.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 26 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Cool and Chill: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
  • The cinnamon sugar topping can be adjusted to taste if you prefer it sweeter or spicier.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the bars cleanly after chilling to prevent cracking.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature according to preference.
