Ingredients
Scale
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup granulated sugar
For the Bars
- Two 8-oz packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets
- 16 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan to ensure the bars don’t stick.
- Prepare Bottom Crust: Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough, carefully pressing the seams together to form a solid layer. Press this dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Make Cream Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with ¾ cup granulated sugar, the egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour this cheesecake mixture evenly over the bottom dough layer in the pan.
- Add Top Crust: Unroll the second tube of crescent roll dough, pressing seams together as before, and gently lay it over the cream cheese filling, covering it completely.
- Apply Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Brush the melted and slightly cooled butter evenly over the top dough layer. Then, sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture generously over the buttered surface to create the churro-inspired topping.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 26 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and puffed up.
- Cool and Chill: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For best results, ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
- The cinnamon sugar topping can be adjusted to taste if you prefer it sweeter or spicier.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the bars cleanly after chilling to prevent cracking.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature according to preference.
