- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Black pepper, to taste
For the Gochujang-Honey Glaze
- 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1½ tbsp honey
- 1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice
- ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 small garlic clove, grated
To Finish
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- Optional: sliced scallions or chili threads
- Warm pita, sourdough, or crackers for serving
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the block of feta cheese in a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Drizzle it with olive oil and season with black pepper to taste.
- Prepare Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the gochujang, honey, rice vinegar or lime juice, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, and grated garlic until well combined.
- Apply Glaze: Spoon the prepared gochujang-honey glaze generously over the feta, making sure to cover the top and sides evenly.
- Bake: Bake the glazed feta in the preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes, until the edges turn golden and the glaze bubbles.
- Optional Broil: For extra caramelization, broil the feta for 1 to 2 minutes, keeping a close watch to prevent burning.
- Garnish: Remove from oven and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top. Add sliced scallions or chili threads if desired for additional flavor and presentation.
- Serve: Serve hot accompanied by warm pita, sourdough, or your choice of crackers for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute lime juice for rice vinegar based on your preference.
- Keep an eye on the feta during broiling to prevent it from burning.
- This recipe is best served immediately while warm and gooey.
- Optional garnishes like scallions or chili threads add a lovely contrast and visual appeal.
- Pair with fresh vegetables for a lighter dipping option.
