Ingredients
Scale
Eggs
- 6 large eggs
Shrimp Filling
- 1/3 cup small cooked shrimp, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cocktail sauce, plus more for topping
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning or paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Garnishes
- Extra shrimp
- Fresh dill
- Chives
- Small dollop of cocktail sauce
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them completely with cold water. Bring the water to a rolling boil, then cover the pan, remove it from the heat, and let the eggs sit for 10 to 12 minutes to cook through.
- Cool and Peel the Eggs: Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool them completely and stop the cooking process. Once cooled, peel the eggs carefully and slice each in half lengthwise.
- Prepare the Filling: Remove the yolks from the egg halves and place them in a bowl. Mash the yolks until smooth, then mix in mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, cocktail sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
- Add Shrimp to the Filling: Gently fold the finely chopped cooked shrimp into the yolk mixture to evenly distribute the shrimp throughout the filling.
- Fill the Egg Whites: Using a spoon or a piping bag, fill each egg white half with the shrimp and yolk mixture, mounding it slightly for an attractive presentation.
- Garnish and Chill: Top each filled egg with an extra small dollop of cocktail sauce, one shrimp, or a sprinkle of fresh dill or chives if desired. Chill the deviled eggs in the refrigerator until ready to serve for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use pre-cooked shrimp for convenience or cook your own shrimp and chill before chopping.
- These deviled eggs are ideal for holiday appetizers, brunch events, or seafood-themed spreads.
- Old Bay seasoning can be substituted with paprika if preferred.
- Chilling the eggs before serving enhances flavor and helps maintain the filling’s structure.
