Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 4 large russet potatoes, cut into thin fries
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked ground beef or black beans
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños
- 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
Optional
- Guacamole or nacho cheese sauce for topping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the fries.
- Season Fries: In a large bowl, toss the cut potato fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until they are evenly coated with the seasoning.
- Bake Fries: Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through baking to ensure they become crispy and golden on all sides.
- Prepare Toppings: While the fries bake, brown the ground beef or warm the black beans as your protein topping. Prepare any other toppings such as dicing tomatoes and chopping green onions.
- Melt Cheese: Once fries are crispy, transfer them to an oven-safe dish or skillet. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked ground beef or black beans evenly over the fries. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts completely.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Remove from the oven and top with pickled jalapeños, diced tomatoes, sour cream, chopped green onions, and any optional toppings like guacamole or nacho cheese sauce.
- Serve: Serve the nacho fries hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Swap ground beef for black beans or soy crumbles to make this recipe vegetarian.
- For extra crispy fries, soak the cut fries in cold water for 30 minutes before baking, then dry thoroughly.
- You can also cook the fries in an air fryer at 400°F for about 20 minutes, shaking halfway through for even cooking.
