Description

Crispy baked nacho fries topped with melted cheddar cheese, seasoned ground beef or black beans, jalapeños, tomatoes, sour cream, and green onions for a flavorful, crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for game day or parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into thin fries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked ground beef or black beans
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Optional

  • Guacamole or nacho cheese sauce for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the fries.
  2. Season Fries: In a large bowl, toss the cut potato fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until they are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  3. Bake Fries: Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through baking to ensure they become crispy and golden on all sides.
  4. Prepare Toppings: While the fries bake, brown the ground beef or warm the black beans as your protein topping. Prepare any other toppings such as dicing tomatoes and chopping green onions.
  5. Melt Cheese: Once fries are crispy, transfer them to an oven-safe dish or skillet. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked ground beef or black beans evenly over the fries. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts completely.
  6. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove from the oven and top with pickled jalapeños, diced tomatoes, sour cream, chopped green onions, and any optional toppings like guacamole or nacho cheese sauce.
  7. Serve: Serve the nacho fries hot for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for black beans or soy crumbles to make this recipe vegetarian.
  • For extra crispy fries, soak the cut fries in cold water for 30 minutes before baking, then dry thoroughly.
  • You can also cook the fries in an air fryer at 400°F for about 20 minutes, shaking halfway through for even cooking.
