Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 (14-ounce) kielbasa sausage (smoked or Polish-style)
- ¼ cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Slice the kielbasa into ½-inch thick rounds without cutting all the way through, creating small “hasselback” slices about ¾ of the way down each round. Arrange the sliced kielbasa bites on the prepared baking sheet.
- Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, pure maple syrup, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until well combined.
- Coat the Bites: Generously brush each kielbasa piece with the sauce mixture, ensuring some sauce seeps into the hasselback cuts for maximum flavor infusion.
- Bake: Bake the prepared kielbasa bites in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes. Halfway through baking, baste the bites again with sauce to enhance caramelization and flavor.
- Optional Broil for Crispiness: For extra crispiness, broil the bites for an additional 2–3 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve warm with extra barbecue sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking for extra crispy bites.
- Ideal as a party appetizer or quick weeknight side dish.
- Use smoked or Polish-style kielbasa for best flavor.
- Adjust spice levels by varying the amount of smoked paprika and black pepper.
