Ingredients
Scale
Brownies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup blueberry puree (from fresh or thawed frozen blueberries)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time to the sugar mixture, beating well after each addition to ensure a smooth batter. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. This will ensure an even distribution and prevent lumps.
- Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the brownies tender.
- Fold in Blueberries and Chocolate Chips: Gently fold fresh or frozen blueberries and optional semi-sweet chocolate chips into the batter for bursts of flavor and texture.
- Pour Batter and Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and spread it out smoothly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Prepare the Glaze: While the brownies cool, whisk together powdered sugar, milk (start with 2 tablespoons and adjust as needed), vanilla extract, and blueberry puree in a bowl until the glaze is smooth and pourable. Add more milk if needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Glaze and Set: Once the brownies have completely cooled, drizzle the glaze evenly over the top. Allow the glaze to set before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen blueberries; if using frozen, do not thaw before folding into the batter to prevent excess moisture.
- Adjust the glaze consistency by adding more or less milk according to your preference.
- For a tangy flavor twist, add a splash of lemon juice to the glaze mixture.
- Optional semi-sweet chocolate chips add an extra chocolatey texture but can be omitted.
