Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 bag (9.25 ounces) Fritos corn chips (original or lightly salted)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
Optional Toppings
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it to ensure the bars do not stick.
- Layer the Fritos: Pour the Fritos into the prepared pan and gently spread them into an even layer, being careful not to crush the chips.
- Cook the Syrup Mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar and light corn syrup. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a boil.
- Mix in Peanut Butter: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the creamy peanut butter until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Combine and Spread: Carefully pour the warm peanut butter syrup evenly over the layer of Fritos. Use a spatula to gently spread the mixture if necessary, ensuring all chips are coated.
- Add Optional Chips: If using, sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and/or butterscotch chips over the top immediately while the mixture is still warm so they melt slightly and adhere to the bars.
- Cool and Set: Allow the bars to cool completely at room temperature for about 1 hour until fully set.
- Cut and Serve: Once set, cut the bars into 24 squares or desired shapes and serve.
Notes
- For a sweeter variation, drizzle melted chocolate or caramel over the bars once they have set.
- These bars offer a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and crunchy textures, ideal for no-bake dessert lovers.
