Description

Delightful Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches feature creamy sweetened cream cheese mixed with fresh strawberries, sandwiched between slices of soft white or brioche bread, then lightly fried until golden and crispy. Finished with a dusting of powdered sugar and served with extra strawberries or syrup, these sandwiches make a decadent treat perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Filling

  • 200 g (7 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup diced fresh strawberries

Sandwich

  • 8 slices sandwich bread (white or brioche recommended)

Batter

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk

Coating (optional)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

For Frying and Serving

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Extra fresh strawberries or strawberry syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Assemble the Sandwiches: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and diced fresh strawberries until smooth. Spread this filling evenly onto 4 slices of bread.
  2. Seal the Sandwiches: Top each filled slice with a remaining bread slice, pressing the edges gently to seal. For a neat presentation, trim the crusts if desired.
  3. Prepare the Batter: In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a separate small bowl, mix the optional granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for coating.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour about 1 inch of vegetable or canola oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat until it reaches approximately 175°C (350°F).
  5. Fry the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the egg and milk batter, ensuring it is coated on both sides, then carefully place into the hot oil. Fry each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Drain and Finish: Remove the fried sandwiches and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. If using, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on the sandwiches while still warm.
  7. Serve: Dust the sandwiches with powdered sugar and serve immediately with extra fresh strawberries or strawberry syrup on the side.

Notes

  • Use brioche bread for a richer flavor and softer texture.
  • Ensure oil is at the correct temperature to avoid greasy or burnt sandwiches.
  • Trimming crusts is optional but provides a cleaner presentation and helps with sealing edges.
  • The cinnamon sugar coating is optional but adds a lovely additional flavor layer.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the sandwiches warm and crispy.
