Fresh and Zesty Guacamole is a simple, vibrant Mexican appetizer made with ripe avocados, fresh vegetables, and lime juice. It’s vegan, gluten-free, quick to prepare, and packed with healthy fats and fiber.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, deseeded and diced
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Mash with a fork to your desired texture—whether chunky or smooth.
  2. Add Fresh Ingredients: Mix in the diced red onion, minced garlic, finely chopped jalapeño, diced tomato, and chopped fresh cilantro into the mashed avocado.
  3. Season and Combine: Pour in the fresh lime juice and season with salt and black pepper. Stir all the ingredients together until well combined.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning or lime juice as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Serve Immediately: Serve fresh with tortilla chips, or use as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats for a burst of fresh flavor.

Notes

  • For extra zing, add a dash of ground cumin or a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce.
  • To store leftover guacamole, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent browning and refrigerate. Best consumed within 1 day for optimal freshness.
