Ingredients
Scale
Crust and Topping
- 1 package (14 oz) Golden Oreos, crushed into fine crumbs
- 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- Green food coloring
Creamy Filling
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
Decorations
- Assorted Easter candies (chocolate eggs, bunny gummies, Peeps, etc.)
Instructions
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until the mixture is smooth and fluffy, creating a creamy base.
- Make Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk for about 2 minutes until it thickens and sets.
- Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the thickened pudding into the cream cheese mixture, then carefully fold in the thawed whipped topping until everything is evenly combined and smooth.
- Color the Coconut Grass: Place the shredded coconut in a plastic bag or bowl and add a few drops of green food coloring. Mix well until the coconut resembles fresh green grass; set this aside for decoration.
- Assemble the Cake: In a 9×13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the crushed Golden Oreos evenly on the bottom as the base layer. Next, spread the creamy filling over the oreo layer, then top with the remaining crushed Oreos.
- Add the Decorative Grass: Evenly sprinkle the green-colored coconut over the cake to mimic grass covering the top surface.
- Decorate with Easter Candies: Arrange assorted Easter candies such as chocolate eggs, bunny gummies, and Peeps on top of the coconut grass, gently pressing them into the surface for a festive look.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least 2 hours to allow the layers to set and the flavors to meld together before serving.
Notes
- This recipe can be made in individual cups or jars, ideal for easy serving and portion control.
- For a more traditional “dirt” appearance, substitute the vanilla pudding with chocolate pudding mix.
- Use fresh Oreos or another cookie of choice if preferred.
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened for smooth blending.
