Banana Chips Ingredients
- 2 ripe but firm bananas (yellow, just speckled)
- 1 tsp coconut oil (or olive oil)
- 2 tsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into â…›-inch thick rounds, ensuring slices are as uniform as possible for even cooking.
- Coat with Oil & Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Lightly brush both sides of the banana slices with coconut oil, then sprinkle them evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 330°F (165°C). Arrange banana slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through, until they turn golden and lightly crisp.
- Cool & Crisp Up: Remove the banana chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack or plate. They will continue to crisp as they cool. Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Use firm, just speckled bananas to get the best texture and sweetness.
- If you don’t have coconut oil, olive oil works equally well.
- For an alternative to granulated sugar, coconut sugar is a great natural substitute.
- Make sure banana slices are uniform in thickness to ensure even cooking.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation and crispiness.
- Letting chips cool completely after air frying is crucial for maximum crunch.
- Store fully cooled chips in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crispness.
