Description

These Cinnamon-Sugar Air Fryer Banana Chips are a sweet, crispy, and totally snackable treat made from ripe yet firm bananas. Coated lightly with coconut oil and a blend of cinnamon and sugar, they make a deliciously crunchy snack that’s easy to prepare in just 20 minutes using an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Chips Ingredients

  • 2 ripe but firm bananas (yellow, just speckled)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into â…›-inch thick rounds, ensuring slices are as uniform as possible for even cooking.
  2. Coat with Oil & Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Lightly brush both sides of the banana slices with coconut oil, then sprinkle them evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 330°F (165°C). Arrange banana slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through, until they turn golden and lightly crisp.
  4. Cool & Crisp Up: Remove the banana chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack or plate. They will continue to crisp as they cool. Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Use firm, just speckled bananas to get the best texture and sweetness.
  • If you don’t have coconut oil, olive oil works equally well.
  • For an alternative to granulated sugar, coconut sugar is a great natural substitute.
  • Make sure banana slices are uniform in thickness to ensure even cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation and crispiness.
  • Letting chips cool completely after air frying is crucial for maximum crunch.
  • Store fully cooled chips in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crispness.
