Ingredients
Scale
Peanut Butter Layer
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3½ cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Layer
- 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (½ of a 14-ounce can)
- 1½ cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Peanut Butter Layer Preparation: Combine the peanut butter, butter, and vanilla extract in a microwave-safe glass bowl. Microwave for 90 seconds, then stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar a cup at a time, stirring thoroughly after each addition. Grease an 8-9 inch pan with butter or line it with parchment paper. Transfer the peanut butter mixture into the pan and press it evenly.
- Chocolate Layer Preparation: In another microwave-safe glass bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Microwave the bowl for 90 seconds, stir, and then heat an additional 15 seconds if necessary. Stir until the chocolate mixture is completely smooth.
- Assemble Fudge: Pour the smooth chocolate layer over the pressed peanut butter layer in the pan, spreading it evenly.
- Cooling: Allow the fudge to cool on the counter for at least 4 hours or chill it in the refrigerator until fully set.
- Serving and Storage: Once set, slice the fudge into bite-sized pieces. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Alternative Stove Top Method – Peanut Butter Layer: Combine peanut butter, butter, and vanilla in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir continuously until smooth and creamy. Remove from heat and gradually stir in the powdered sugar until well combined.
- Alternative Stove Top Method – Chocolate Layer: Melt the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter in a heatproof bowl placed over simmering water (double boiler method). Stir occasionally until fully melted and smooth.
- Assembly and Cooling (Stove Top Method): Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the peanut butter layer, then cool and store as per the microwave method.
Notes
- Greasing the pan or lining it with parchment paper ensures easy removal of fudge.
- Add powdered sugar slowly to avoid lumps in the peanut butter layer.
- Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips according to your preference for sweetness level.
- Fudge needs to set for at least 4 hours for the best texture.
- Store fudge in refrigeration to maintain freshness and slice easily.
