Ingredients
Scale
For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (such as Oreos, with filling removed)
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
For the ganache filling:
- 8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate (chopped)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the topping:
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon blueberry jam (optional, for gloss)
- Fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make the crust: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs with melted butter until well mixed. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Bake for 8–10 minutes until set, then remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Make the ganache: Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, gently heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until it just begins to simmer without boiling. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chopped chocolate and let it sit untouched for 1–2 minutes to soften. Stir until the mixture is smooth, glossy, and fully combined. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Assemble the tart: Pour the ganache filling evenly into the cooled tart crust. Smooth the top with a spatula for an even surface. Refrigerate the tart for at least 1 hour, or until the ganache is fully set and firm.
- Add the topping: Once the ganache has set, arrange fresh blueberries artistically over the surface. If desired, warm the blueberry jam slightly and brush it gently over the berries to add a beautiful shine. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a burst of color and added freshness.
Notes
- Best served slightly chilled or at room temperature for optimal flavor and texture.
- The tart can be prepared a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator to allow flavors to meld.
- Use high-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate for a rich, deep ganache flavor.
- Removing the filling from the chocolate cookies before making the crust ensures a better texture and flavor balance.
