Description

Crispy, sweet, and spicy air-fried tofu bites coated in a sticky hot honey sauce, perfect as a flavorful appetizer or snack. These bites combine the crunchiness of air-fried tofu with a punch of heat and sweetness from the honey and sriracha glaze, garnished with fresh green onions and sesame seeds for an Asian-inspired treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Tofu Preparation

  • 14 ounces firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Hot Honey Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F to prepare for cooking the tofu cubes evenly and thoroughly.
  2. Prepare Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture for better crispiness.
  3. Coat Tofu: In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until they are evenly coated for flavor and texture.
  4. Add Oil: Lightly spray or toss the coated tofu cubes with vegetable oil to help them crisp up in the air fryer.
  5. Air Fry Tofu: Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even browning, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. Make Hot Honey Sauce: While the tofu cooks, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in a small bowl until combined and smooth.
  7. Toss Tofu in Sauce: Once the tofu is done cooking, transfer it to a bowl and drizzle the hot honey sauce over the cubes, gently tossing to coat each piece evenly with the spicy-sweet glaze.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the tofu bites for a fresh and nutty finish before serving.

Notes

  • Firm or extra-firm tofu is recommended for best results in air frying to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha according to your preferred heat level.
  • These tofu bites make an excellent appetizer, snack, or can be served over rice for a satisfying meal.
